Hello World!

If you’re interested in reading my About page, I tried to capture in as few words as possible what this site is about.

Capturing what I want to say in as few words as possible is always a goal of mine. I put importance on clarity and succinctness. And, still, my writing always goes on longer than I originally intend. It seems I have a lot that I want to say!

In my initial “Hello World!” post here I want to share a couple of the reasons I am even creating this blog site.

I have an affinity for the dramatic, the meaningful, the heart-wrenching and heart-exploding interpretations of experience. And I like to express it in writing.

Writing about my experience helps me stay HERE. I am having a lot of heart-blasted open moments. It is super amazing and beautiful and intense. I had no idea that my life could be this good! And sometimes my experiences feel so powerful that my system is desperate to come back down. I can easily shrink and blow it off so that I don’t have to be with the intensity. I have become aware of some of the ways I sabotage myself so that I don’t grow and expand. My inspiration is easily diffused if left alone. My desire is to let the inspiration ignite more of me instead.

I have learned that often we believe things from our conditioning or from our past that we don’t really acknowledge. And these unacknowledged beliefs can run our lives in ways that we don’t like. It has become really important to me that I know what I believe. Sometimes when I write what I believe, I realize that I don’t really believe it. Sometimes when others share their disagreements, I see things in a new way. Discoveries like this have changed my life! Writing helps me to understand myself and my perceptions and opens me up to new and amazing ideas.

I have a desire to serve a life bigger than me. My best understanding of how to do that right now is to practice love in every relationship and every aspect of my life. These reflections help keep me on task. I find it can be easy to proclaim my commitment and then unfortunately easier to forget when the most difficult opportunities are presented. However, through daily meditation and reflection, I am more practiced in making the conscious choices to love.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Victor Frankl

Writing has become a part of my practice in remembering to choose, in allowing the space, in being guided by the genius of love.
